Senior Database Administrator – DB2 Logical, Raleigh NC
Location: Onsite in Morrisville, NC. Relocation support available for candidates not local to the area.
Role Summary: Provide premium DB2 application DBA support and services to Ensono mainframe clients. Perform database creation, development, administration and tuning to support development, test, and production databases. Maintain day‑to‑day database tasks including backups, restores, monitoring, reorganizations, DR procedures and support client requests. Perform database optimizations, reporting, analysis, and periodic performance reviews.
What You Will Do:
Develop and support/customize new services and support efforts.
Work with vendor personnel to achieve timely solutions of database problems.
Fulfill client requests and change orders for mainframe z/OS clients in a timely manner as they pertain to DB2.
Provide primary support for reported problems related to client application DB2 tablespaces.
Provide support on a 24×7×365 basis across multiple time zones and participate in on‑call responsibilities.
Provide key support for client migration services (new client transitions) as they pertain to DB2.
Assist the assigned project manager in the migration of newly acquired clients to address technical hurdles and meet migration dates.
Collaborate with Disaster Recovery Services to execute tasks associated with client disaster recovery plans.
Follow ITSM change control procedures.
What You Will Need:
Bachelor’s degree required and/or equivalent work experience.
13 years of professional experience in DB2 for administration and application support.
Extensive experience with Mainframe DB2: administering and supporting databases, supporting multiple DB2 subsystems, building objects, analyzing new DB2 versions for functionality, refreshing test data, supporting DB2 security requests and reviewing risks, reorganization of application data, vendor consultations for problems, space calculations, tuning of DB2 buffer pools and SQL code, DR recovery of application objects, troubleshooting and solving production database issues.
Other Qualifications:
Experience with CA, BMC, and IBM tools for DB2.
Experience establishing policies and procedures for database management, DR, security, maintenance and utilization.
Supporting multiple clients after hours on‑call.
Self‑motivated and able to work independently.
Must be able to multi‑task and work under short deadlines and in high‑pressure situations.
Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and presentations).
Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently.
