
Senior Director of Accounting

Well-established Financial Services Advisory and Private Equity Firm with Global Offices. This leadership role will support the global consulting and advisory services business which is in heavy growth after a recent injection of funding from a public financial institution. This position will be a hybrid role in the company's global HQ in Northbrook, IL. The business has over 850 globally, and this is a newly created position that will have 4+ direct reports. As the firm is now owned by a publicly listed company public accounting experience will be a big plus combined with expertise in SOX.
Position Overview An experienced, hands‑on Accounting Director is needed to lead a 10-person team through month‑end close, SOX compliance, and a major ERP migration from Workday GL to Oracle. The role combines deep technical accounting expertise (including policy interpretation, journal entries, reconciliations, and internal control design), public‑company audit experience, and strong coaching skills to mentor staff and drive change. Success requires adaptability, robust change‑management capabilities, and the ability to deliver accurate, timely reporting in a fast‑paced, growing organization.
Role Overview

Primary responsibilities: drive month‑end close, ensure SOX compliance, manage major ERP migration
Required Technical Expertise
In-depth knowledge of accounting policies, journal entries, account reconciliations
Proven experience designing, implementing and monitoring internal controls
Background in public-company audit processes and reporting standards
Lead transition from Workday General Ledger to Oracle ERP
Coordinate cross‑functional teams to minimize disruption and safeguard data integrity
Maintain continuous operational and reporting accuracy during the migration
Coaching & Change Management
Strong people‑management skills: develop staff, foster continuous improvement culture
Demonstrated ability to articulate vision, guide teams through change and secure stakeholder buy‑in
Establish training, feedback and performance metrics to accelerate team growth
Key Success Factors
