Morris Group, a leading distributor of high-end CNC machine tools and manufacturing solutions, is seeking a driven and technically proficient

Capital Sales Engineer

to join our team in the Chicagoland market.

This role is ideal for a competitive, self‑motivated professional who thrives on winning new business while also developing long‑term customer relationships. You will represent premium CNC equipment and deliver value‑driven solutions to manufacturers across a wide range of industries.

Identify, pursue, and close new capital equipment opportunities within assigned territory

Develop and grow relationships with existing customers (“farmer” mentality) while aggressively targeting new business (“hunter” mentality)

Evaluate customer applications and recommend optimal CNC machining solutions

Collaborate with internal Applications Engineering team for:

Time studies

Turnkey project development

Process validation and machine selection

Lead the full sales cycle from prospecting through proposal, negotiation, and closing

Maintain accurate pipeline forecasting and CRM activity

Network and stay current on industry trends, machining technologies, and competitive offerings

Other Functions:

Qualifications & Competencies

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field (preferred)

3+ years of experience in manufacturing, machining, or capital equipment sales

Strong technical aptitude with CNC machining processes (milling, turning, automation a plus)

Proven ability to win new business and exceed sales targets

Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills

Self‑starter with a high level of accountability and urgency

Must reside in the Chicagoland area

Able to perform bending, twisting, stooping, reaching, and lifting of moderate to heavyweight material up to 50 lbs. with assistance from equipment or other employees.

Ability to frequently use hands and arms.

Vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Ability to work responsibly and professionally in dynamic job sites that may involve tight timelines, changing priorities, and interaction with customers and team members.

Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, and reach for extended periods while servicing equipment.

Ability to work in tight spaces or awkward positions, including accessing equipment interiors and elevated areas.

Strong hand–eye coordination and fine motor skills required for precise electrical, mechanical, and diagnostic work.

Ability to work in industrial environments, with exposure to noise, lubricants, coolants, metal chips, and other manufacturing conditions, while consistently wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).
