What You’ll Do
We’re looking for a Senior Portfolio Analyst to join our Target Date team at Principal Asset Management. In this role, you’ll provide relative asset class research and make recommendations to enhance multi‑asset class strategy performance!
Develop and enhance relative asset class research models and provide asset allocation recommendations to the target date team
Develop and enhance capital market forecasts that inform asset allocation decisions and multi‑asset class portfolio construction as it relates to Target Date strategies
Monitor and analyze market trends, economic developments, and geopolitical shocks and determine their impact on current relative asset class calls
Communicate complex investment concepts and strategies to portfolio managers and stakeholders

Seasoned investment professional with direct experience supporting a target date franchise
A proven track record of strong analytical and research skills as it relates to relative asset class modeling and market research
Bachelor's or Master’s degree with an emphasis in finance, economics, accounting, or a technical field
8+ years of relative asset class modeling and asset allocation recommendations
General knowledge and understanding of investment vehicles, economic and investment theories, the investment environment, retirement investing, and Principal Global Investors' network of specialized investment groups and affiliate product offerings
Skills That Will Help You Stand Out
CFA designation
Experience with Morningstar, Bloomberg, FactSet, Macrobond, Barra and performance attribution/risk decomposition tools
Financial modeling experience that includes Excel, Python, or other coding tools
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to efficiently and effectively research, compile and analyze information
Ability to manage multiple tasks, work independently in a non‑structured environment, and drive results
Salary Range Information Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non‑sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program; sales positions are eligible for sales incentives and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
Salary Range (Non‑Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly) $157,000 - $213,000 / year
Time Off Program Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short‑term illness. Employees don’t accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.
