Position Summary An intern supports the assigned design department by assisting with a variety of tasks, including special project assignments and active participation in project design and documentation, to gain practical experience and support their educational development.

Immigration sponsorship or support (e.g. H1B, F-1 CPT/OPT/STEM OPT) is not available for this position, except for qualified candidates eligible for the TN visa classification.

$21.00 - $26.00 based on education level.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Assist senior or lead interior designers with basic design tasks, including research, simple studies, and layout support

Help prepare drawings and documents for programming, schematic design, modeling, graphics, design development, and construction phases

Support the creation of presentation and marketing materials

Assist with construction phase activities, including participating in site visits, supporting RFI responses, reviewing shop drawings, and helping update record drawings

Follow established quality control procedures and ask questions as needed

Learn and apply department and company standards and best practices

Develop basic design, analysis, and technical skills through hands‑on experience

Participate in team meetings and collaborate with team members

Receive guidance and direction from supervisors and team leaders

Perform other related duties as assigned

Required Skills

Familiarity in using standard Microsoft Office for document creation and email communication

Ability to prepare well organized, clear, and concise written materials

Ability to support work with attention to detail and creativity

Developing presentation skills, including communicating ideas to different groups

Ability to manage time and workload effectively with guidance from supervisors

Strong teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate well with others

Required Experience

High school graduate or currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in a related field

Currently enrolled as a full‑time student in a CIDA accredited program as detailed below:

Students who have completed at least two years in an accredited 4‑year Interior Design program

Students who have completed at least one year in an accredited Master of Interior Design program

Preferred Experience

Coursework in a related field

Previous internship or relevant work experience

Familiarity with design and production software, with the ability to use these tools to develop project documents and collaborate with project team members

Working Conditions Work is performed within a general office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.
