Grant-Mill Healthcare Solutions, an SBA-verified Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB), is seeking a Senior Interior Designer to support the VA Long Beach Healthcare System (LBVAHCS) Engineering Service. You'll work within the Interior Design Section under the VA Supervisory Interior Designer, leading design services for major construction project activations — including space planning, FF&E procurement, activation coordination, and installation oversight across clinical, administrative, and support spaces.
What You’ll Do
Independently create and execute interior design services for offices, conference rooms, patient care and treatment rooms, waiting areas, lobbies, break rooms, and support spaces across major VA construction projects
Develop detailed AutoCAD designs, plans, sketches, perspectives, color schemes, and visual aids for design presentations — analyzing architectural drawings and developing FF&E plan layers
Interpret and review architectural plans for concurrence with the VA Technical Information Library (TIL) standards and specifications
Produce procurement packages following VA contracting standards: SOWs, technical specifications, IGCEs, bid sheets, budgets, drawings, and installation schedules
Manage financial tracking for FF&E procurement — communicating with vendors, coordinating delivery and installation schedules, maintaining control logs
Maintain the Interior Design Resource Library including drawings, plans, procurement documents, project correspondence, and project binders
Review way-finding signage plans, furniture and artwork installation plans; direct installation crews independently; identify and manage punch lists for installed items, coordinating with dealers, installers, and stakeholders to close out
Facilitate collaborative meetings with end users and stakeholders covering transition planning, day-in-life scenarios, move plans, departmental adjacency, patient/staff flow, infection control, and security
Coordinate with Contracting, Logistics, EMS, OI&T, Material Management, and Engineering services
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or closely related field — OR — 8–10 years of professional interior design experience (healthcare/institutional strongly preferred). A combination of education and relevant experience may be considered in lieu of the stated requirements.
Proficiency in AutoCAD (required) and Microsoft Office Suite — Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook (required)

Skilled in freehand drawing and drawing to scale during on-site measurements
Familiarity with Patient Centered Care culture in healthcare environments
Working knowledge of ABAAS, VA Barrier Free Design Guide, VA TIL, ICC, OSHA, and NFPA
