Position Summary The Marketing & Events Manager leads the Chamber’s marketing, communications, and promotional efforts while supporting the execution of Chamber events.

This role is responsible for maintaining the Chamber’s marketing calendar, overseeing communications platforms, ensuring consistent brand visibility, and coordinating event promotion and logistics in partnership with the Executive Director. The position plays a central role in communicating the value of Chamber Partnerships and ensuring members receive strong visibility through Chamber marketing channels.

Essential Functions

Support the Executive Director in planning, developing, and overseeing Chamber events, including logistics, scheduling, vendor coordination, and event execution.

Develop and implement strategies to increase event participation, sponsorship engagement, and non-dues revenue.

Manage event budgets, including forecasting, expense tracking, and revenue reporting.

Identify and secure sponsorships and partnerships that support Chamber programs and events.

Establish and maintain relationships with vendors, sponsors, volunteers, and community partners.

Oversee event marketing efforts in collaboration with the Chamber team, including promotional materials and social media announcements.

Oversee event registration processes and ensure accurate data management within the Chamber membership database.

Develop and maintain the Chamber’s annual calendar of programs and events.

Serve as staff liaison to the Chamber Events Committee and coordinate committee meetings, planning activities, and event support.

Evaluate event outcomes and implement improvements based on participation, feedback, and organizational goals.

Assist with Chamber initiatives and support the Soldotna Visitor Center as needed.

Physical Requirements

Stand and walk for extended periods.

Lift, carry, and move boxes of brochures, merchandise, and supplies.

Lift items weighing up to 40–50 pounds.

Bend, reach, and handle materials during visitor guide distribution and event setup.

Work at a computer and handle phone communications for extended periods.

Working Conditions

Work is performed both indoors and outdoors.

Over time is required as needed.

Working outdoors in varying weather conditions, including cold, snow, wind, rain, and summer heat.

Occasional evening or weekend work for Chamber events or programs.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in business, hospitality, marketing, communications, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Two (2) or more years of experience in event planning, program management, hospitality, or a related field preferred.

Valid Alaska driver's license and must remain insurable under the Soldotna Chamber of Commerce business vehicle insurance policy.

Experience managing events, budgets, and vendor relationships preferred.

Strong organizational and communication skills.

Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, Canva, and the ability to learn database software.

Ability to work evenings or weekends for Chamber events.
