JOB SUMMARY Performs moderately complex marketing work. Compiles and disseminates marketing information and data. Works under general supervision with limited latitude for initiative and independent judgment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Conducts demonstrations of Texas Correctional Industries products; conducts surveys and studies to determine the effectiveness of marketing practices and the potential for new markets; and assists in developing, planning, and implementing promotional and merchandising strategies.
Consults current and potential customers to assist in identifying and recommending new products, product enhancements, quality assurance procedures, and other issues regarding products and marketing strategies; and assists clients and agency administrators regarding the effectiveness of up-to-date packaging, quality control, transportation, and market expansion.
Gathers and analyzes cost and production information; establishes contacts to promote economic development activities; and assists in developing and implementing division marketing plans to complement statewide marketing goals.
Performs a variety of marginal duties not listed, to be determined and assigned as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education, Experience, and Training
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university recognized by CHEA or USDE. Major coursework in Business Administration, Communications, Drafting and Design, Marketing, or a related field preferred. Each additional year of experience beyond the required two years may be substituted for thirty semester hours on a year-for-year basis.
Two years full‑time, wage‑earning retail sales or marketing experience.
Customer relations and merchandising experience preferred.
Knowledge and Skills
Knowledge of the principles and dynamics of planning and design.
Knowledge of merchandising and customer relations techniques.
Knowledge of the methods and techniques for product promotion and manufacture.
Knowledge of agency and departmental organizational structure, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations preferred.
Skill to communicate ideas and instructions clearly and concisely.
Skill to coordinate with other staff, departments, officials, agencies, organizations, and the public.
Skill to interpret and apply rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
Skill in problem‑solving techniques.
Skill in public address.
Skill to prepare and maintain accurate records, files, and reports.
Skill to review technical data and prepare technical reports.

Ability to walk, stand, sit, kneel, push, stoop, reach above the shoulder, grasp, pull, bend repeatedly; identify colors; hear with aid; see, write, count, read, speak, analyze, alphabetize; lift and carry 45 lbs. and over; perceive depth; operate a motor vehicle; and operate motor equipment.
Able to work inside, around machines with moving parts and moving objects, radiant and electrical energy, closely with others, alone, protracted or irregular hours, and travel by car, van, bus, and airplane.
Equipment used: computer and related equipment, calculator, copier, fax machine, telephone, dolly, automobile.
