
Fixture Designer

We are seeking a skilled Fixture Designer with a strong experience in mechanical design engineering to join our team. You will play a crucial role in supporting the development of new products, defining cost-effective manufacturing methods, and designing innovative tooling and fixturing solutions.
Job Title Fixture Designer
Responsibilities
Support the development of new products that align with growth initiatives.
Define, create, and implement cost-effective methods for manufacturing and inspecting complex component parts.
Design and procure new tooling, gauging, and fixturing.
Create CAD designs using NX software.
Comply with quality system requirements.
Work closely with shop floor personnel on setup reduction, process improvements, and quality improvements.
Assist in estimating and determining standard costs for manufactured parts.
Design and maintain capable manufacturing processes, including work holding fixture design and CNC programming.
Effectively manage changes to manufacturing processes for assigned product groups.
Facilitate and participate in Lean Manufacturing and other continuous improvement events.
Troubleshoot prototype and pilot processes.
Involve in MRB processes, establishing effective rework procedures.
Essential Skills
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Design Engineering or Mechanical Engineering preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in Design Engineering.
Strong experience in designing part holding fixturing for machining centers.
Proficient in blueprint reading and mechanical inspection techniques.
Thorough understanding of GD&T.
Experience with CAD/CAM software, especially NX.
Creative fixturing experience for part processing.
G-Code Programming knowledge preferred.Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams.
Problem-solving skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Management experience preferred.
CNC machining knowledge.
Solidworks, Unigraphics, AutoCAD experience.
Work Environment The role is based in a machine shop and office environment within a smaller, privately held company.
