
Internal Communications Specialist

Position Specifics
The Office of Online Education Marketing and Strategy is seeking a communications professional to serve as a Marketing and Communications Specialist, designing and executing internal communications strategies for Penn State Online Education and World Campus. The role will manage internal communications content—including emails, newsletters, intranets, and webinar facilitation—to promote organizational culture and engagement across the university. Reporting to the Director of Content and Communications Strategy at Penn State World Campus, the specialist will coordinate editorial oversight and production of internal communications, manage both strategic and execution tasks, and implement multi‑faceted marketing strategies. The position requires a proactive approach to collaborate with World Campus teams, translate priorities into communication plans, and work with communications staff to publish newsletters, webinars, news releases, and intranet content that supports institutional priorities.

Minimum Education, Work Experience & Required Certifications Bachelor’s Degree
3+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted
Required Certifications: None
Preferred Qualifications
Record of accomplishment in a fast‑paced, highly collaborative, and challenging environment
Exceptional attention to detail—both editorial and data accuracy—as well as proven client management and diplomacy experience
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, team‑building/cross‑functional collaboration skills, and ability to adapt content to different marketing platforms
Strong understanding of Office365, especially SharePoint, webinar tools (Zoom), and work management systems
Experience with multimedia content development and curation, Salesforce, and email marketing solutions (Constant Contact)
Background Checks/Clearances Employment will require successful completion of background checks per University policies.

Salary & Benefits The salary range for this position is $51,000 – $74,000.
