Assistant Director Of Behavioral Health And Treatment Services
Sieda Community Action is seeking a capable, detail-oriented, and mission-driven professional to serve as Assistant Director of Behavioral Health and Treatment Services (BHTS). This is a key leadership role for someone who thrives at the intersection of operations, compliance, grants, and service delivery, and who wants to strengthen behavioral health and substance use services that genuinely support people and communities.
Reporting to the Director of Behavioral Health and Treatment Services, the Assistant Director functions as a deputy and operational leader for the Unit. This role provides day-to-day administrative leadership, serves as the primary grant writing and grant reporting lead, and ensures continuity of operations, regulatory compliance, and program integrity. The Assistant Director also serves as Acting Director in the Director's absence.
This position is ideal for a behavioral health professional who brings strong organizational discipline, grant expertise, and a steady leadership presence to complex, compliance-heavy environments.
What You'll Do
- Provide operational and administrative leadership for Sieda's behavioral health, substance use treatment, and prevention programs.
- Serve as the primary grant writer for BHTS programs, including identifying funding opportunities, preparing applications, and coordinating required documentation.
- Lead grant management and reporting, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant programmatic and fiscal submissions to funders.
- Track grant deliverables, performance measures, compliance requirements, and deadlines, and communicate expectations clearly to staff.
- Collaborate with the BHTS Director and Fiscal team to monitor budgets, expenditures, and allowable costs.
- Support service planning and program development for substance use disorder treatment, prevention, rehabilitation, and mental health services.
- Assist with compliance monitoring related to CARF accreditation, Iowa HHS licensure, and mental health regulatory requirements.
- Supervise and support clerical and administrative staff, fostering accountability, consistency, and professional growth.
- Support intake, assessment, scheduling, documentation, and evaluation processes to help ensure timely access to quality services.
- Monitor service access, productivity, outcomes, and adherence to standards in collaboration with clinical leadership.
- Carry a limited substance use disorder treatment caseload as appropriate to licensure and program needs.
- Coordinate training tracking and certification requirements for BHTS staff.
- Support billing and reimbursement processes in collaboration with fiscal and administrative teams.
- Represent Sieda BHTS with funders, community partners, referral sources, and regulatory agencies.
- Serve as Acting Director during the BHTS Director's absence, providing leadership continuity and operational decision-making.

Required
- Bachelor's degree in a human-services-related field.
- Certification as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor (IADC or CADC), with ability to maintain certification.
- Minimum of three years of experience in behavioral health and or substance use treatment services.
Preferred
- One or more years of supervisory or managerial experience in behavioral health services.
