
Tasting Room Lead

The Kenwood Vineyards Hospitality team is seeking a knowledgeable and service-driven Tasting Room Lead to support daily tasting room operations and deliver exceptional guest experiences. This role reports to the Hospitality Manager and works closely with the team to drive sales, Wine Club sign-ups, and overall guest satisfaction. The position requires a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Prior hospitality or wine industry experience is preferred.
Key Responsibilities
Lead daily tasting room operations in the absence of the Hospitality Manager
Provide exceptional guest service while educating visitors on winery history, wines, and winemaking techniques
Pour and present wines in an engaging and professional manner
Drive retail sales and Wine Club sign-ups
Operate POS systems (including Commerce7), process transactions, and reconcile daily sales
Perform opening and closing duties, ensuring the tasting room is set up and secured properly
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the tasting room, including glassware and bar areas
Handle guest inquiries and feedback, escalating concerns as needed
Assist with inventory tracking, reporting, and administrative tasks including EOM duties
Support planning and execution of special events, VIP tastings, and Wine Club experiences
Collaborate with the Hospitality Manager on seasonal menus and tasting offerings
Participate in staff meetings and support overall team operations
Qualifications & Skills
Strong customer service skills with a friendly and professional demeanor
3+ years of experience in hospitality, tasting rooms, or the wine industry preferred
Passion for wine and willingness to expand wine knowledge
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Highly organized with strong attention to detail and ability to multitask
Team-oriented with a positive and collaborative attitude
Self‑motivated with the ability to work independently and remain calm under pressure
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) required
Experience with POS systems (Commerce7 preferred)
Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality when handling sensitive information
Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays
Valid California driver’s license and clean driving record required
Must be at least 21 years of age
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality, Business, or a related field preferred
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, including uneven surfaces and stairs
Repetitive use of hands and wrists for opening and pouring wine
Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
