We are seeking a Purchasing Agent II to be responsible for the pre‑ and post‑bid process on one or more projects.

Responsibilities

Administers the bid process from project kickoff to award, including system set‑up, bid package strategy, Project Manual creation, bid list management, drafting, reviewing bid package scope of work, bid meetings, bid leveling, and recommendation to award.

Administers the contract process including preparing and entering contracts and procurement change orders; assists in negotiation of contract terms; ensures contract compliance.

Assists in identifying and monitoring current market conditions, trade contractors, trends, and costs.

Recognizes and drives opportunities in the Diverse Owned Small Business (DOSB) utilization process.

Communicates and coordinates with trade contractors, vendors, and jobsite personnel while supporting internal and external customers.

Assists with trade partner risk mitigation strategy and execution, including coordination with operations teams and risk management.

Coaches and mentors less experienced team members.

Supports a positive and inclusive work environment.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or similar technical field.

Experience: 4+ years of purchasing and/or construction experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, skills & abilities: public speaking and leading meetings; construction law, contracts, and risk management; insurance; reading construction drawings and specifications; preparing Project Manual; analyzing bids, summarizing, and presenting results; participating in the GMP process and understanding purchasing’s role regarding trade partner pre‑qualification; coordinating Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) procurement; running the pre‑bid RFI process.

Salary will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and experience. For Connecticut, this ranges from $76,500.00 to $113,300.00 plus benefits and retirement program.
