Summary
Incumbents in this classification are responsible for supervising and managing all aspects of the City’s network operations.
Essential Functions
Supervises staff to include: prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; ensuring staff are trained; ensuring employees follow policies and procedures; maintaining a healthy and safe working environment; making hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations.
Manages day‑to‑day activities of applicable division sections, including planning, coordinating, administering, and evaluating programs, projects, processes, procedures, systems, and standards; ensuring compliance with Federal, State, and Local laws, regulations, codes, and/or standards; coordinating activities between multiple service areas; integrating and coordinating service areas.
Participates in forecasting, preparing, and administering division budgets; prepares cost estimates for budget recommendations; submits justifications for budget items; monitors and controls expenditures; manages financial operations.
Oversees the stability, availability, and security of network environments, ensuring appropriate recovery and redundancy mechanisms are in place.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Any combination of training and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or a closely related field and two years previous experience serving as a network engineer in an enterprise class business, interacting with technology vendors, and supervising subordinate employees.
Must have one of the following certifications: Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA); Cisco Certified Security Professional (CCSP); or Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP).
