Samaritan's Purse is seeking a Media Relations Assistant Manager to join our Quality Assurance & Social Media team in Boone, NC! In this role, you will be responsible for securing positive media coverage for Samaritan's Purse, the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA), and our President/CEO by managing media outreach and sharing stories about the ministries and work of both organizations. A day in the life of a Media Relations Assistant Manager: At Samaritan's Purse, the Gospel really is the center of all we do!We start each day with a time of devotions and spend time praying for each other, our staff, and volunteers who serve around the globe. In the role of Media Relations Assistant Manager , you will have the opportunity to: Maintain your personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be an effective witness for Him. Constantly monitor project activity to develop creative, relevant initiatives to generate beneficial media coverage. Write, coordinate, and review press releases and media alerts for final review by the Media Relations Director and Executive Vice President. Develop pitch lists to provide ministry updates to relevant media contacts. Provide research and prepare briefings about interview subjects as needed. Participate in relevant emergency response calls, meetings, and updates. Assist the director in drafting, reviewing, and editing public statements for the President and CEO. Travel as necessary during crisis events, evangelistic outreaches, and ministry projects to handle frontline media for the President's Office. Make advance trips when needed to adequately prepare for upcoming events by developing media contacts, gaining awareness of local issues, and establishing site awareness. Assist the Director in training spokespeople to represent specific ministry initiatives of the President and CEO. Maintain calendar for ministry events and work with the Director to develop a media plan for upcoming opportunities. For projects and events in non-English speaking countries, help the Director identify local PR companies that can localize press releases and facilitate connections with journalists. Provide background information and research for briefing reports in cities and countries where the President and CEO will be interacting with the media, highlighting the local relevant ministry history. Coordinate interview requests by communicating key details to the Director, scheduling accepted interviews, and notifying appropriate staff of acceptances or declines. Prepare interviewees and manage logistics, including developing talking points, providing wardrobe expectations, arranging makeup for TV interviews, and coordinating with staff to ensure technology and setup needs are met. Manage post-interview follow-up, including obtaining footage and photos from video/photography departments, alerting staff of broadcast times for recording, and debriefing on topics requiring constituent follow‑up. Oversee the President's media file and website, ensuring it is current with the latest ministry updates. Track media mentions for executive reports. Maintain and update a media contact database. Oversee the creation of online press kits that feature b-roll, photos, and press releases. Alert and provide feedback to the Director and EVP about media stories of interest or concern. Provide social media content for the President's Office as needed. Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from a four‑year college or university and three (3) to four (4) years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior experience in news or public relations is preferred. Strategic communication skills with the ability to analyze how current events and news issues impact Samaritan's Purse, BGEA, and people of faith, and communicate controversial and complex topics clearly and concisely. Strong research and writing abilities, including key messaging for interviews and statements, reports, and business correspondence. Proven analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to define problems, collect data and research, think strategically, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and improve processes. 12 credit hours of college‑level Biblical Studies (required); if not already completed, opportunity to meet and complete requirement is available upon hire. Job Location: Boone, NC Type: Full‑Time Language Requirement: Fluency in English (required) Travel Expectations: This position requires domestic and/or international travel of approximately 55 days/year.
