Parks and Recreation - Senior Groundskeeper

Job Summary:
This position is responsible for the maintenance of parks facilities and grounds.
Job Duties:
Perform athletic field and grounds maintenance including mowing, aerifying, topdressing, seeding, sodding, trimming, field painting, irrigation and turf care, fertilizing, installation and care of trees and shrubs, proper pruning techniques, and tree removal
Maintain park grounds and buildings operated by the parks and recreation department including repairing tools and equipment, changing oil, sharpening blades, repairing tires, cleaning public restrooms, painting interior and exterior surfaces, and performing routine carpentry repairs on buildings and facilities
Spray chemicals including insecticides, herbicides, soil conditioners, and related chemicals; follow proper safety precautions
Procure quotes and orders equipment, services, and supplies needed for parks and recreation maintenance
Assist the Maintenance Supervisor with scheduling and implementing maintenance procedures for department facilities
Other duties as assigned
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required
More than one year of related experience is required
Hold a Category 24 Pesticide Applicator License in ornamental and turf pest control from the Georgia Department of Agriculture or obtain it within one year of employment
Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of and skill in grounds and building maintenance methods and practices
Knowledge of and skill in departmental and safety rules and regulations
Knowledge of and skill in operation of a variety of grounds maintenance equipment
Knowledge of and skill in programs and event coordinator principles
Knowledge of and skill in computers and job-related software programs
