Overview
A technology-driven organization is seeking a
Director of Engineering
to lead the development of advanced power electronics and filtering solutions. This role is ideal for a hands-on engineering leader who enjoys collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to design and deliver innovative, high-performance products. The organization develops complex electronic solutions including
EMI filters, RF filters, and power distribution systems , many of which operate in
high-power environments . These products require strong expertise in
power electronics design, component selection, manufacturing processes, and thermal management
to ensure reliability in demanding applications. The Director of Engineering will work closely with executive leadership, product strategy, marketing, and operations to align engineering initiatives with broader business objectives. This role will oversee a team of
20+ engineering professionals
and manage multiple concurrent development programs each year. Success in this role requires
strong technical leadership, strategic thinking, and the ability to mentor and develop engineering talent while driving execution across complex projects . Key Responsibilities
Provide technical leadership in the
design, analysis, and testing of power electronics and filtering solutions
Translate
customer requirements into technical proposals , including schematic diagrams and bill of materials for new product development
Lead and manage engineering teams responsible for
product development, safety compliance, and configuration management
Oversee
multiple engineering programs simultaneously , ensuring projects are delivered on schedule and meet technical and quality requirements
Conduct and participate in
design reviews
to ensure product performance, reliability, and compliance standards are met
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including
manufacturing, operations, and product management
Ensure engineering processes support
scalability, manufacturability, and product reliability
Support teams responsible for
electrical, mechanical, safety, and test engineering , including prototype development and debugging
Balance project workloads across the engineering organization
Foster a collaborative and high-performance engineering culture
Recruit, mentor, and develop engineering talent
Manage
department budgets and capital equipment planning
Required Experience
Experience designing or supporting
EMI filters, RF filters, power distribution systems, or related power electronics products
Strong knowledge of
power electronics components and design principles
Familiarity with
electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) standards and best design practices
Experience
troubleshooting EMC-related issues
Knowledge of product safety compliance standards such as
IEC 60939, 61010, 60601, and 62368
Experience working with certification organizations such as
UL, CSA, or other NRTL bodies
Experience designing products with
manufacturability and testability in mind
Proven leadership experience managing engineering teams and delivering complex technical projects
Education
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field required
