Director of School Operations, Career & Postsecondary Success Providence School District Providence Career and Technical Academy - Providence, Rhode Island

We serve approximately 22,000 students at 37 elementary, middle, and high schools. Approximately 55% of students come from homes where English is not the primary language spoken. Combined, our students and families speak 55 different languages and hail from 91 countries of origin. Responsibilities The Director plays a critical leadership role by managing non‑instructional functions, enabling the principal to focus on student achievement and the professional development of teaching staff. This position oversees a broad range of operational responsibilities, including the development and execution of daily operational plans, coordination of career awareness initiatives and postsecondary opportunities, and the collection and analysis of school data to ensure alignment with the school’s strategic goals. The Director also supervises a team of operations professionals, including clerical staff, to ensure efficient and effective school operations. This role has been redefined to more intentionally advance equitable access, strengthen student readiness outcomes, and align with district strategic priorities, clarifying its dual focus on operational excellence and student impact, expanding its scope beyond traditional Career and Technical Education (CTE) coordination, and reinforcing a commitment to preparing all students for postsecondary success.

School Operations

Each year, prepare the campus for start‑up/new school year by ordering furniture, equipment, and classroom supplies as well as ensuring that school services (i.e., student food services, student transportation services) are lined up and ready for day one

With the support of Central office, ensure compliance with all state, federal, and local employment laws and policies

Manage the maintenance of campus facilities by overseeing the custodial personnel, work order system, and partnering with Plant Maintenance office

Conduct monthly walkthroughs with Central Office staff to ensure building operations are in compliance with local agencies (i.e. fire inspections, etc.)

Manage building use calendar and activities to assure rentals have everything in place

Conduct field days for students and staff to build a positive culture

Receive and deliver monthly bus passes to students

Manage culture night

Oversee Student Mentor program

School Administration

Ensure the timely implementation of all items on PPSD's monthly administrative calendar

Ensure that the school is adhering to all local compliance and reporting requirements, as per calendars and guidelines provided by Central Office

Provide oversight of the planning and execution of school special events, such as field lessons, Parent/Teacher conferences, and graduation

Oversee the administration of all student tests - With the support of the Central Office data analysts, disseminate progress reports to school staff and ensure the timely production of student report cards

Ensure that student records are properly maintained and updated at the school

Career and Postsecondary Program Implementation Outcomes

Support college and career program approval processes and program implementation

Directly supervise and manage data collection relating to college and CTE programs, industry certifications, college credits, extended learning opportunities, and other program outcomes in accordance with local, state, and federal reporting requirements

Establish data fields and data collection processes to ensure the accurate collection, review, analysis, and reporting of student data including program enrollment, college credits and industry certifications earned, extended learning outcomes, and district of residence

Design and implement quantitative and qualitative data analysis to evaluate the college and career CTE program outcomes and effectiveness

Compile, review, analyze, and submit accurate data for all forms and reports in accordance with local, state, and federal data collection and reporting requirements

Manage and oversee confidential personal data relating to staff and program effectiveness

Support the school’s efforts to identify and define local job opportunities and the role of the schools in meeting those needs

Effectively utilize the school’s student information systems and learning management systems to collect, organize, maintain and report CTE outcome data

Make recommendations for long-term adjustments, changes, additions, and deletions in the programs based on quantitative/qualitative data analysis to meet changing job trends and needs

Marketing and Admissions

Coordinate and oversee the implementation of an electronic application process and workflow that tracks in and out‑of‑district CTE applications and international applications, records requests, and other actual enrollments

Establish, advertise, and support job shadowing, mentoring, internships, and paid employment programs, and track related outcome data

Establish, advertise, and support job concurrent and dual enrollment programs that lead to college credit and track related outcome data in conjunction with guidance

Interact with parents, outside agencies, businesses and community to enhance the understanding of system initiatives and priorities and to elicit support and assistance

Generate and disseminate information to prospective students and families before, during, and after the application process

Coordinate and oversee the scheduling and follow‑up of open house, tours of facilities, school visits, student shadowing, and other recruitment processes

Work with and support school‑business workforce partnerships; cultivate relationships with business, industry and education officials

Coordinate with statewide transportation to ensure the effective transportation of out‑of‑district students to and from school

General Supervision and Management

Organize in‑service training, including record keeping for training earned by professional staff; manage, oversee, and evaluate the workflow of professional and support staff

Access and analyze confidential evaluation and outcome data relating to teacher and staff effectiveness, student outcomes, and program quality

Contribute to the confidential evaluation of teachers and support staff

Collect, organize, and disseminate information to school staff and our communities about the schools’ work on CTE programs, dual and concurrent enrollment, and other school initiatives in a variety of print and electronic formats

Exercise patience and tact when dealing with parents, students, staff, and the public

Demonstrate initiative, use independent judgment and appropriate styles and methods in identifying potential problems or opportunities for improvement and take appropriate action to implement solutions

Perform highly technical and responsible duties requiring extensive judgment and initiative in planning, organizing, directing and evaluating program operations

Regularly attend seminars, conferences and workshops to update knowledge and learn new practices and technologies in the field

Perform the functions of the position in accordance with the RI Leadership Standards; Professional Teaching Standards; and the RI Professional Code of Conduct

Perform the functions of the position in accordance with all laws, regulations, school district policies and administrative directives; and perform other duties as may be assigned

Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s Degree, additional coursework, as well as ongoing participation in ongoing professional growth activities.

Experience: 2-4 years of progressively responsible administrative, supervisory, and/or project management experience.

Qualifications for the Position

A Master’s degree (required)

A minimum of two years of related professional work experience in an educational setting

Coursework in and professional experience with quantitative and qualitative analysis and evaluation techniques

Demonstrate knowledge of and experience with the use of student information systems and learning management systems in educational settings

Knowledge of and experience with collecting, analyzing, and generating data in accordance with local, state, and federal reporting requirements

Experience with production of a variety of media particularly print publications

Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, etc.), Google, and other related productivity software

Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate in person, in writing, and ability to speak publicly

Demonstrated ability to foster positive relationships, enhance school culture, and work as a productive member of a team

Demonstrated ability to perform the responsibilities above as evidenced by coursework, educational experience, involvement in professional activities, and the interview process

And/or any combination of education, experience, and knowledge and skills substantially equivalent by the school district to those listed above

Terms of Employment Work hours, days and year, compensation and benefits as per contract.

Salary $102,739 to $117,010 Per Year
