Intern for Getty Images Editorial News Photography
Getty Images is seeking an emerging news photographer for its Editorial Photography Internship Program, a nine-month paid opportunity based in Washington, D.C. The internship, running from October 2025 to July 2026, will provide hands‑on experience working alongside Getty Images' editorial news team and content experts. The selected intern will gain expertise in various aspects of the editorial imagery business, including capturing stills and video, editing, distribution, and asset management. This program, supported by Canon USA, aims to nurture the intern's skills and perspective in the dynamic news environment.

This opportunity is designed to support enthusiastic and committed photographers, providing a full Canon equipment kit, laptop, mifi, and iPhone for the duration. The program aims to lower barriers to entry in professional photography and particularly encourages applications from people of color and individuals with intersectional identities, who are underrepresented in the field.
Some of the learning objectives of the Internship are as follows:
Access, exposure to, and collaboration with some of the world’s leading photojournalists and editors
Training on proprietary workflow software as well as industry standard tools for editing and transmitting photography on deadline
Observe and practice live content capture, editing, distribution and asset management of stills and footage.

The starting salary range for this position at the time of posting is USD $30 per hour. Getty Images has different ranges in different locations within the US, and this range represents the starting base pay range. Actual compensation will depend on factors including but not limited to: qualifications, geographic location, skills, experience, certification, business needs, performance, and level of responsibility along with the requirements of the position. The company reserves the right to modify this pay range at any point in the future.
