Assistant Director of Student Engagement & Activities - MSUAASF Range C

The Assistant Director is responsible for engaging students on-campus and creating a vibrant campus community through student activities, student groups/clubs/organizations, and student-centered events. The Assistant Director is responsible for overseeing the Student Activities Committee (SAC) and engage students through student clubs and organizations. This position will have oversight of the student club budgets (SAFAC). This position will also oversee Student Government. The Assistant Director will make informed suggestions on campus entertainment and performers that engage the student body and bring life to the campus community and college experience for SMSU students. This position will be involved in assisting with university-wide programming for students including but not limited to student orientation, homecoming, family weekend, Black history month, Women's history month, and more. The Assistant Director will also oversee intramural sports programming. Minimum Qualifications: Master's Degree in Student Affairs, Event Management, or related field plus one-year professional experience in event management, student affairs, higher education or related field; OR Bachelor's degree in stated fields plus two years' field experience. Proven ability to work with diverse populations. Proven ability to engage target populations. Budget Management Experience. Proven Ability in Event Management or program development. Preferred Qualification: Experience in higher education, specifically a university setting. Experience working directly with college student populations and knowledge of student trends. Proven success with increasing student engagement. Experience building community relationship and partnerships. Experience leading club/organizations. Work Shift (Hours / Days of work): Monday Friday; 10:00 am 6:00 pm shifts at minimum 2 days a week otherwise standard 8:00 am 4:30 pm; Weekend and evening hours may be required.
