An established independent insurance agency seeks an experienced Commercial Lines Account Manager to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of commercial insurance experience, strong client management skills, and a commitment to ethical service. Knowledge of Applied EPIC is preferred but not required.
Our commercial lines team operates on a hybrid schedule with in‑office days on Wednesday and Thursday.

Position Overview
Position: Experienced Commercial Lines Insurance Account Manager (IAM)
License: Active P&C License required
This position works closely with the production team and carrier partners to evaluate client exposures and provide comprehensive, cost‑effective risk management solutions. Responsibilities include interviewing clients, prospects, and internal team members to assess exposures and develop appropriate coverage plans or alternative risk management strategies.
The Account Manager will interact with clients and prospects by phone, email, fax, and in person to ensure exceptional service. This role also supports internal team members and assists in preventing or resolving customer service backlog as needed.
Key Responsibilities
Manage all policy and account maintenance for new and renewal business, as well as claims and billing, in accordance with the Procedures Manual.
Prepare account submissions, review quotes, and develop proposals, submissions, and premium allocations for presentation to clients and prospects.
Respond to correspondence, phone calls, emails, and faxes within 24 hours.
Support account retention, account rounding, and cross‑selling initiatives across departments.
Review policy declarations and forms for all policies and endorsements, ensuring coverages issued align with coverages requested or proposed.
Maintain knowledge of carrier products, contacts, rating platforms, and submission guidelines; seek support and identify available markets for client and prospect risks.
Take the lead on all aspects of the new and renewal process as needed, including discussing changes in exposures and recommending appropriate solutions.
Build and maintain professional, effective relationships with clients, coworkers, carriers, and agency partners.
Communicate clearly and effectively while collaborating purposefully to support agency business goals.
Identify opportunities to cross‑sell insurance products and enhance account rounding.
Maintain and improve educational knowledge as required by the State, the Agency, and industry developments.
Maintain accurate databases and follow‑up systems in accordance with agency procedures.
Assist clients and team members with coverage questions or clarification requests.
Provide backup support for colleagues in accordance with agency standards and procedures.
Utilize effective time management to minimize customer backlog; communicate with management regarding assistance needed to reduce or eliminate backlog.
Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years of commercial insurance experience
Active Property & Casualty license required
Experience with Applied EPIC strongly preferred
Strong communication, organization, and client service skills
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
