Director of Learning and Development!
Job Summary The Director of Learning & Development leads the strategy, design, and execution of training programs that drive operational excellence, leasing performance, and resident satisfaction across a multifamily housing portfolio. This role partners closely with Operations, Regional Leaders, and onsite teams to develop talent, improve performance, and support career growth.
Key Responsibilities Training Strategy & Delivery
Design and deliver training programs for onsite and corporate teams, including:
New hire onboarding (leasing, maintenance, and management roles)
Leasing performance and closing skills
Customer service and resident experience
Property management systems (e.g., OneSite/Yardi)
Leadership and career development programs
Conduct needs assessments to identify performance gaps across properties and regions.
Develop and lead train-the-trainer programs to strengthen onsite leadership capabilities.
Ensure compliance with company policies, Fair Housing regulations, and required training standards.
Leasing Performance & Operational Excellence
Partner with Operations to improve leasing conversion, occupancy, and renewal performance.
Oversee third-party “mystery shopping” programs (phone, online, and in-person) to evaluate leasing effectiveness.
Analyze property-level performance data and implement targeted training solutions.
Support Regional Managers in coaching, performance management, and succession planning.
Lead recognition programs tied to leasing results and customer service excellence.
Learning Systems & Reporting
Manage learning management systems (LMS) and training tracking tools.
Monitor training completion, certifications, and compliance across the portfolio.
Provide reporting and insights to senior leadership on training effectiveness and ROI.
Continuously refine curriculum based on operational KPIs and business needs.
Content Development & Industry Alignment
Stay current on multifamily trends, leasing strategies, and resident experience best practices.
Update training content to reflect evolving market conditions, technology, and customer expectations.
Source and manage external training vendors, industry partners, and conference content.
Organizational Development
Support development of job descriptions, career paths, and performance evaluation tools.
Plan and facilitate company training events, conferences, and development initiatives.
Partner with cross-functional teams on rollout and training of property management systems and new initiatives.
Lead special projects aligned with business growth and operational priorities.
Qualifications Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Education, Communication, or related field required
Master’s degree or MBA preferred
5+ years of training and development experience, preferably in multifamily property management or adjacent industry
