Position Overview We are seeking a hands-on Engineering Director to lead engineering strategy and operational execution within a growing manufacturing organization. This role is ideal for a technically strong leader with a startup mindset who can scale engineering capabilities while contributing to the broader operational success of the business. The company is taking on a strategic restructuring, investing in their equipment and machinery assembly business unit with a new facility and new operational structure.
The Director of Engineering will combine technical expertise with operational leadership, overseeing engineering initiatives while supervising assembly and production-related functions. This position is designed for someone with the potential to grow into a General Manager role as the organization scales.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and develop the engineering function, supporting machining, fabrication, and engineered product solutions.
Provide technical leadership across mechanical, electrical/controls, and pneumatic systems.
Oversee engineering design, development, and implementation of custom solutions.
Partner with operations and leadership to ensure efficient processes and scalable manufacturing systems.
Supervise and mentor engineering staff and assembly/production teams.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives focusing on productivity, quality, and process optimization.
Establish engineering standards, documentation, and best practices.
Collaborate with leadership on strategic planning and capacity planning.
Support project execution from concept through manufacturing to meet quality and cost objectives.
Act as a cross-functional leader bridging engineering, operations, and customer-facing delivery.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related discipline.
Strong engineering background in manufacturing environments (machining, fabrication, or engineered systems).
Technical exposure across mechanical, electrical/controls, and pneumatic systems.
Experience leading engineering teams and supervising cross-functional technical or assembly teams.
Demonstrated experience with operational processes and manufacturing workflows.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with a hands-on leadership style.
