
Private Credit Vice President

A private credit firm in the Raleigh-Durham area is seeking a
Vice President
to join its growing investment team. The firm focuses on providing
debt capital to lower‑middle‑market businesses across a broad range of industries , with an emphasis on disciplined underwriting, strong partnerships with financial sponsors, and long‑term portfolio stewardship.
As Vice President, you will play a central role in
originating, evaluating, structuring, and managing private credit investments . You will work closely with senior leadership throughout the full credit investment lifecycle—from initial screening through underwriting, documentation, closing, and ongoing portfolio monitoring. This role offers the opportunity to influence investment decisions, deepen sponsor relationships, and contribute meaningfully to the continued growth of the platform.
Responsibilities
Lead underwriting and due diligence
for prospective credit investments, including financial analysis, quality of earnings review, capital structure assessment, and downside protection evaluation.
Develop credit memoranda , risk assessments, and investment recommendations for the firm's Investment Committee.
Perform detailed financial modeling , scenario analysis, and covenant structuring to appropriately price and protect each transaction.
Oversee portfolio monitoring , including reviewing monthly/quarterly performance, covenant compliance, variance analysis, and proactive risk management.
Engage directly with private equity sponsors , intermediaries, and borrowers to source new opportunities and maintain long‑term relationships.
Negotiate term sheets and legal documentation
in partnership with internal and external counsel.
Support fundraising efforts
by preparing materials and participating in discussions with current and prospective investors.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, or related field;
MBA or CFA preferred .
6-8 years of experience
in private credit, leveraged finance, investment banking, restructuring, or adjacent credit disciplines.
Proven ability to
underwrite, structure, and execute credit transactions
from start to finish.
Strong technical skills, including financial modeling, credit analysis, and legal document review.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex credit risks and recommendations clearly.
Entrepreneurial, proactive, and capable of building sponsor relationships and sourcing opportunities.
Ability to thrive in a lean, collaborative, fast‑paced environment.
