An opportunity is available for an experienced professional to serve as Director of Inpatient Pharmacy Services at a well‑established healthcare facility in Missouri. This contract position, running from early July to early November 2026, focuses on leadership and operational management of inpatient pharmacy services, with a requirement to act as the Pharmacist in Charge (PIC). Ideal candidates will have a strong background in inpatient pharmacy practice and hold a Missouri pharmacist license along with Medication Therapy Services certification.

Key Responsibilities

Lead all aspects of inpatient pharmacy operations, including scheduling pharmacists and technicians to ensure seamless service coverage.

Collaborate with the Buyer to proactively manage medication supply chain challenges.

Oversee and facilitate the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee by preparing agendas, conducting meetings, and implementing approved initiatives.

Participate in monthly medical staff committee meetings and contribute to COPD readmissions reduction efforts.

Conduct monthly department meetings and daily weekday huddles to promote communication and team alignment.

Manage ordering and handling of controlled substances biweekly.

Oversee payroll and manage user access to the Pyxis system.

Provide support for sterile compounding as needed, particularly during staff absences.

Desired Qualifications

Active Missouri pharmacist license.

Certification in Medication Therapy Services.

Prior experience with inpatient pharmacy settings preferred.

Familiarity with Meditech Expanse, specifically in managing the drug dictionary, is advantageous.

Strong leadership and organizational skills.

Excellent communication and problem‑solving abilities.

Additional Details

Work schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

No on‑call duties, but serve as a resource to pharmacy staff during business hours.

The facility provides onsite training for two weeks before the start of maternity leave.

Dress code is business casual or scrubs of any color or print.

The pharmacy department supports a diverse range of specialties, including OB, orthopedics, pediatrics, oncology, cardiology, neurology, behavioral health, and more.
