An established advanced manufacturing organization is seeking a Director of Engineering to lead engineering operations and drive technical innovation across product development and manufacturing programs. This role will oversee engineering teams responsible for developing and delivering complex technical solutions while ensuring projects are executed efficiently from concept through production. The Director of Engineering will play a key leadership role in guiding engineering strategy, mentoring technical teams, and ensuring high-quality engineering execution. This position works closely with operations, quality, supply chain, and commercial teams to deliver innovative solutions while maintaining alignment with organizational goals. Key Responsibilities

Engineering Leadership Lead and mentor a team of engineers, providing coaching, technical guidance, and performance feedback. Develop and implement engineering strategies that support innovation, efficiency, and product quality. Oversee engineering project planning and execution from concept through launch. Ensure teams define project requirements, refine scopes, and execute development activities using structured product development processes. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including quality, supply chain, manufacturing, and commercial teams to support project success. Manage engineering resources including staffing, budgeting, and workload planning. Foster a culture focused on continuous improvement, collaboration, and professional growth. Monitor project progress and implement corrective actions when necessary to maintain schedules and deliverables. Technical Oversight

Provide technical leadership and support to engineering teams, including mentoring project engineers. Review and approve engineering designs, documentation, and development plans. Ensure engineering activities comply with applicable industry standards, safety regulations, and quality processes. Support onboarding and development of new engineers, helping build both technical capabilities and internal process knowledge. Coordinate with external partners such as tooling vendors, component suppliers, and service providers. Support Design for Manufacturing (DFM) initiatives to optimize product manufacturability and assembly processes. Provide clear project updates using visual project management tools and structured reporting methods. Maintain awareness of emerging technologies and industry trends. Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and external partners regarding technical solutions, timelines, and deliverables. Coordinate with external vendors to ensure alignment on project expectations, scope, and deliverables. Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or related technical field 5–10+ years of engineering experience, including leadership or supervisory responsibility Strong understanding of engineering development processes and project lifecycle management Experience leading engineering teams and mentoring technical staff Demonstrated success collaborating with cross-functional teams on product development initiatives Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills Experience with engineering design tools such as SolidWorks or similar platforms Knowledge of project budgeting, scheduling, risk management, and resource planning
