
Carrier Sales Representative

Job Requirements:
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field preferred.
Source, vet, and onboard qualified carriers to support brokerage operations.
Develop and maintain a strong network of carriers across various modes (FTL, LTL, intermodal).
Ensure carrier compliance with company standards, insurance requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
Monitor carrier performance, including on-time service, communication, and reliability.
Negotiate competitive freight rates with carriers to maximize profitability.
Analyze market trends and capacity conditions to make informed pricing decisions.
Balance cost, service, and capacity to meet customer expectations.
Load Coverage & Execution:
Secure capacity for available freight in a timely and efficient manner.
Coordinate with customer sales representatives and operations teams to ensure proper load execution.
Track shipments and proactively address service issues or delays.
Communication & Relationship Building:
Build and maintain strong relationships with carriers through consistent communication.
Serve as the primary point of contact for carriers regarding load details, expectations, and issue resolution.
Collaborate with internal teams (sales, operations, and customer service) to ensure seamless execution.
Process & System Improvement:
Identify opportunities to improve carrier sourcing strategies and operational efficiencies.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date carrier and load information in company systems.
Support cross-training and knowledge sharing within the brokerage team.
Compliance & Documentation:
Ensure all carrier documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant.
Maintain records related to carrier onboarding, contracts, and rate agreements.
Adhere to all federal, state, and local transportation regulations.
Other Duties:
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications / Skills:
Strong understanding of transportation services, including truck brokerage and carrier operations.
Proven ability to negotiate effectively and manage carrier relationships.
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Familiarity with logistics software, load boards, and TMS systems preferred.
