About the Role We are seeking a
Director of Engineering
to lead and oversee engineering operations across multiple manufacturing facilities within the food industry.
This role will be responsible for driving
operational excellence, capital planning, and engineering performance , while partnering with cross‑functional teams to optimize plant operations and ensure compliance with industry standards. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership experience along with a background in
meat processing (beef, poultry, or pork)
environments.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage
engineering teams across multiple plants , ensuring optimal performance and efficiency
Collaborate with
Operations, HR, Safety, and other stakeholders
to achieve organizational goals
Oversee
capital expenditure (CapEx) and maintenance budgets , ensuring effective planning and execution
Develop and implement
short‑term and long‑term engineering strategies
aligned with business objectives
Drive improvements in
asset utilization, performance optimization, and lifecycle management
Establish and enforce
engineering standards, processes, and best practices
Ensure compliance with
regulatory, safety, and internal engineering standards
Lead
project execution and delivery , ensuring timelines, quality, and budget adherence
Analyze operational data to identify opportunities for
efficiency improvements and cost reduction
Partner with HR to support
team development, leadership programs, and performance management
Provide clear communication of technical strategies to both
technical and non‑technical stakeholders
Travel across locations (up to 50%) to support plant operations and initiatives
Mandatory Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or related field
10+ years of experience in
engineering management within manufacturing environments
5+ years of leadership experience managing teams and driving performance
Prior experience in
food manufacturing (mandatory)
– meat industry (beef/chicken/pork) preferred
Strong experience managing
multi‑million‑dollar CapEx projects and budgets
Experience with
ammonia refrigeration systems
Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills
Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for business stakeholders
Proficiency with
Microsoft Office and SAP systems
Preferred Skills
Professional Engineer (PE) License
Experience with
asset optimization, lifecycle planning, and maintenance strategies
Strong background in
continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives
Experience working in
fast‑paced, multi‑site manufacturing environments
