Pay Range Base pay: $15.00/hr - $17.00/hr
Job Functions
Use the E.C.E.T. (Every Customer, Every Time) process with every customer interaction
Greet every customer you make eye contact with, anywhere in the store
Answer customers' questions and provide information on procedures and policies
Be at your workstation on time and be customer ready on the sales floor
Maintain awareness of all promotions and advertisements
Recommend related items and execute the S.A.L.E.S. process
Keep your area neat, clean, stocked and priced properly
Execute daily operational goals and priorities assigned by store management
Assist in the training and development of peers
Actively participate in daily huddle meetings
Uphold merchandising and store cleanliness standards
Offer a carry‑out if appropriate
Answer the telephone properly
Protect company assets and report missing or damaged merchandise
Address safety concerns and report pricing errors
Take initiative to learn product knowledge and selling skills
Perform other tasks as asked by store management
Sales Floor Duties
Aid customers in locating merchandise in store and on acehardware.com, and process special orders
Provide store services such as mixing paint, cutting glass, pipe and keys
Ensure shipments are packed out correctly and manage overstock
Assist with receiving new shipments and keep the receiving and back‑stock area clean and organized
Register Duties
Ring each transaction accurately
Ask for the loyalty card before starting a transaction and sign the customer up if needed
Call for help when more than three customers are waiting
Keep busy around the registers when not ringing
Process merchandise returns as needed
Physical Requirements Tests and activities include walking, standing, stooping, reaching, and lifting. Employee must be able to walk frequently, stand constantly, stoop frequently to pick up floor cartons, reach a height of six feet, lift up to 60 pounds for up to 500 repetitions, and perform hand dexterity, pushing/pulling, carrying, climbing, and vision tasks as needed.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent
Previous retail experience preferred, but not required
Excellent customer service skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work effectively in a team environment
Flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
Basic math and computer skills
