Job Summary Our office in Roanoke, VA is seeking a Director of Electrical Engineering to lead a fast‑paced, multi‑discipline team. Our Electrical Engineers focus primarily on the design of building‑related projects including healthcare, higher educational facilities, large commercial projects, and local government projects using Revit and AutoCAD software.
General Duties
Lead, supervise, provide guidance and training to a team of engineers
Develop electrical system designs of a given project based on scope of work and/or client RFPs
Provide engineering design, evaluation, and planning of electrical systems for a variety of market types
Conduct existing building surveys and documentation of existing electrical systems
Develop system design calculations and selection of equipment for use in buildings
Write and edit project specifications
Prepare detailed design documents, reports, and studies
Perform code compliance research
Coordinate work with other disciplines
Provide construction administration services
Perform QA/QC of design work
Serve as the primary contact for clients
Assist in the procurement of new work including the development of client relations and participation in project interviews
Qualifications
Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field
10+ years of experience in electrical design
PE License (preferred)
Familiarity with codes, standards, and design guidelines
Hands‑on experience with the latest versions of AutoCAD, REVIT, MS Office, and engineering calculation and performance simulation software
Team management experience (preferred)
Skills/Abilities
Ability to work in a fast‑paced, multi‑discipline team environment
Ability to prioritize tasks effectively in the face of shifting projects and deadlines
A positive attitude with colleagues and clients
Excellent oral and written communication skills
