Air Traffic Control Systems Trainer
Job Description
We are seeking a highly experienced Air Traffic Control Systems Trainer to develop and implement comprehensive training programs for both new and existing air traffic controllers and system maintainers. This role involves designing engaging course content, conducting training sessions, and collaborating with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to ensure that training is relevant and complies with regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement training programs for air traffic controllers and system maintainers.
Lead collaborative efforts with the FAA to deliver training for mission‑critical systems.
Design engaging course content, including classroom instruction, simulations, and e‑learning modules.
Conduct training sessions using FAA‑approved materials and methodologies.
Evaluate trainee performance through assessments, simulations, and feedback sessions.
Update training materials to reflect changes in FAA regulations, technology, and best practices.
Collaborate with subject matter experts and operational staff to ensure training relevance and accuracy.
Maintain training records and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.
Support certification and re‑certification processes for air traffic control personnel.
Essential Skills
Minimum of 8 years of recent experience in training development, with some of that time in a lead role.
Experience as an instructor or training developer in support of technology.
Excellent communication, presentation, and instructional design skills.
Proficiency in training development, instruction, and materials.
Technical knowledge and skills in communication systems and software troubleshooting.
Familiarity with FAA regulations and methodologies.
Linux proficiency.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Proficiency in using e‑learning development tools such as Articulate 360 (Storyline, Rise) is a plus.
Bachelor’s degree in education, aviation, engineering, or a related field is preferred.
Work Environment The role is based onsite in Columbia, MD, with two days per week dedicated to instructor‑led trainings. The trainer will occasionally work remotely to support the development of technical training materials.
Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Columbia, MD.
Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $50.00–$55.00 per hour.
