Staff Volunteer- Public Relations & Media Relations Volunteer
Operation Meraki, Columbus, OH, United States
Operation Meraki Overview
Operation Meraki is a veteran‑led organization serving those who have served. We operate through our
Scout‑to‑Pathfinder model , a structured reintegration ecosystem designed to move veterans from uncertainty to clarity, from isolation to community, and from survival to stability.
Our programs focus on
Mental health and wellness through RESET peer support and experiential programming
Workforce readiness and empowerment
Creative expression through photography and storytelling
Sustainable food initiatives that reconnect veterans to purpose and community
Outreach and continuity of care so no veteran falls through the cracks
To date, we have served
785 veterans
without recurring external funding, building our foundation through discipline, partnership, and community trust.
We are not an event‑based nonprofit. We are not transactional. We are a transformative organization. We are structured, accountable, and impact‑driven.
Vision A world where every veteran and their family successfully transitions into their next mission in life. We envision communities where veterans are not statistics, but leaders, creators, professionals, and mentors.
Values
Continuity – We walk with veterans beyond the first phone call. Reintegration is a process, not a moment.
Integrity – We hold ourselves accountable to the highest standard of service.
Transparency – We operate with open communication and measurable outcomes.
Partnership – We believe community engagement is essential to sustainable impact.
Innovation – We design adaptive programs that respond to the evolving needs of today’s veterans.
Public Relations & Media Relations Volunteer The Public Relations & Media Relations Volunteer helps position Operation Meraki and its Executive Director as trusted voices on veteran and community well‑being. In this role, you will research and pitch relevant media outlets, podcasts, and speaking platforms; coordinate logistics for confirmed interviews and appearances; and create tailored talking points and prep materials so our Executive Director is fully prepared for each opportunity.
You will also track outreach, bookings, and coverage, and collaborate with our communications team to repurpose media wins across social media, email, and other channels. This is a volunteer staff role (non‑board) that reports to the Executive Director and Operations Manager and requires a commitment of approximately 4–6 hours per week.
