Technical Service Advisor

Position Summary The Technical Service Advisor will provide high-level technical waste disposal support to sales, operations, and customers. The role supports the development of bid materials by working with sales managers and works closely with customer service and operations staff to coordinate processes that ensure acceptance and disposal of waste. It involves determining proper, safe, and legal treatment of hazardous waste and building a direct rapport with customers as an extension of the sales and customer service teams.

Principal Responsibilities

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot technical issues and contribute to the overall success of the organization by applying knowledge and skills regarding waste treatment and disposal services.

Engage proactively with clients to understand their technical requirements, deliver customized solutions, and ensure satisfaction through ongoing communication and attentive support.

Meet with clients to discuss waste management solutions, analyze laboratory results and safety data sheets, and compile technical data into comprehensive reports.

Investigate the application of hazardous waste regulations, aid in waste classification, collaborate with internal teams to evaluate treatment options, and comply with transportation guidelines.

Work closely with the sales department to offer solutions that meet quality and regulatory standards, perform technical evaluations, facilitate communication between departments, maintain customer pricing records, and focus on customer retention and business development.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Building a rapport with associates and managers with a high level of accuracy and the ability to detect inconsistencies in data.

Knowledge of Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) laws and regulations related to waste characterization principles, practices, analysis and evaluation, waste processing protocols, and transportation (DOT) regulations and industry best practices.

Knowledgeable waste characterization principles and practices including analysis and evaluation, waste processing protocols, and transportation regulations.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documentation, technical procedures, and governmental regulations to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presenting findings in a concise format.

Negotiation and problem‑solving skills.

Possess good knowledge of business math, geometry, and basic accounting processes.

Knowledge of computer technology for communication, data gathering, and reporting.

Detail‑oriented with strong organizational skills, capable of managing multiple tasks and priorities effectively.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment.

Proficient with Microsoft Office, DocuSign, and PDF writer.

Qualifications

Commitment to customer service and the ability to actively listen to customers to understand requests, resolve issues, or make recommendations.

Must be attentive to detail with a high level of accuracy and the ability to detect inconsistencies in data. Possess the ability to identify trends and data patterns.

Minimum Qualifications

2–4 years of equivalent work experience in waste disposal, chemistry, or a related field providing technical expertise.

Location & Schedule The role may be based out of either the Sam Houston Parkway location or the Robstown location. The position follows a hybrid schedule, requiring four days per week onsite and one day remote. This is a hybrid role based in Houston, TX and is not eligible for full-time remote work.
