As an experienced Painter, you'll be expected to be highly skilled in painting a variety of mediums – base coats, tri-coats, solid, metallic, and clear coats – blending, and paint correcting on various makes and models of vehicles. You will play a vital role in delivering exceptional finishes and paint jobs on cars, SUVs and trucks, ensuring they meet industry standards and customer expectations. As an automotive painter, you will be responsible for auto body work and performing a variety of tasks to ensure flawless paint application and the creation of stunning car finishes including, but not limited to the following responsibilities:
Responsibilities
Meticulous vehicle surface prep including removing accessories, masking off parts, cleaning, sanding, and filling surfaces.
Mix and color match paint colors to specifications to achieve accurate color reproduction and/or a seamless blend with the vehicle's existing paint.
Correctly formulate all refinishing coatings – primer/undercoat, color and base coat.
Skilled application techniques including spray guns, brushes, rollers, sprays, and solvents and other equipment to ensure even and consistent paint coats/polish.
Inspect painted units for quality of workmanship, fixing runs, sags and unpainted areas.
Address issues such as scratches, chips, dents or anything that contributes to the overall quality of the repair.
Maintain tools and keep equipment/work area clean.
Wear all required safety and health personal protective equipment, including respirator, in the manner recommended by the equipment manufacturer.
Comply with all laws and regulations pertaining to paint, thinners, and other hazardous materials reporting any deviations to management.
Prioritize tasks, meet deadlines and ensure seamless workflow to ensure each paint job is completed in a timely manner without compromising quality.
Demonstrate commitment to customer service.
Effective collaboration with our TEAMS-oriented environment is essential.
Stay up-to-date with industry trends and techniques through online training/certification courses.
Understand, keep abreast of, and comply with federal, state and local regulations that affect body shop operations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know etc.
Other tasks as assigned.
Requirement Skills for Auto Body Painter
Proven experience as an Auto Body Painter.
Strong knowledge of automotive painting techniques, paint types, applications and equipment.
Proficient ability to match colors and finishes accurately.
A high school diploma or equivalent is required for the job.
Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
Strong work ethic.
Adeptness to work independently and collaborate as part of a team.
Time management skills and ability to handle multiple projects efficiently.
Physical stamina to perform tasks that may involve standing for extended periods, lifting heavy objects, and working in various positions.
