About the Opportunity We are seeking a highly hands‑on, growth‑oriented Director of Accounting to lead the accounting function for a private equity‑backed organization generating approximately $50M in recurring revenue, with an acquisition of a significantly larger firm underway. This role offers substantial upside and leadership visibility, reporting directly to the CFO and playing a critical role in scaling the finance infrastructure through acquisition and beyond. The ideal candidate brings strong recurring revenue experience (professional services, managed services, billing‑based models, or healthcare), proven management capability, and the ability to operate both strategically and tactically.

Leadership Scope Direct oversight of a team of 3:

1 Accountant

2 Purchasing/AP team members

Full ownership of accounting operations

Cross‑functional collaboration with Sales, Operations, Finance, and Executive Leadership

What You’ll Own This is a very hands‑on leadership role. The Director of Accounting will both lead and execute.

Core Responsibilities

Oversee all day‑to‑day accounting operations

Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes

Prepare and review journal entries and reconciliations

Oversee payroll processing

Manage sales & use tax filings

Ensure GAAP‑compliant revenue recognition (recurring and project‑based revenue)

Oversee AR, AP, and cash flow management

Support and lead external audit process

Assist with income tax coordination

Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis

Develop and implement improved policies, procedures, and controls

Support acquisition integration and process scaling

Required Experience

10‑20 years of progressive corporate accounting experience

Prior leadership or Controller‑level experience

Experience in recurring revenue environments (professional services, billing‑based services, healthcare, or similar)

Strong GAAP technical knowledge

Experience managing or participating in audits

Experience with sales & use tax

Strong systems proficiency (ERP / G/L systems)

Demonstrated ability to lead while remaining hands‑on

CPA strongly preferred
