Underwriting Support Specialist - Commercial Lines

As an Underwriting Support Specialist, you will be responsible for specific territories utilizing your talents to support the commercial lines business and underwriting team.

This role will be filled in Charlotte, NC and will work out of the Sentry regional office there in the hybrid work model.

What You'll Do

Documents and maintains customer information and forms necessary for policies and/or policy changes in various systems. Handles the most complex transactions by gathering all necessary data from various sources, updating applicable systems, reviewing output for accuracy and completeness, and ensuring appropriate resolution. Ensures that data and materials meet company standards for compliance, completeness, and quality.

Collaborates with underwriters and agents to prepare new or renewal files for underwriters within an assigned territory, producing risk/exposure reports and compiling information. Compiles underwriting electronic records and forms, sales quotes, and/or business contracts. May correspond with customers, sales producers, and/or independent agents to gather and verify information or deliver quotes.

Serves as primary point of contact and resource for designated producer(s), customers, and/or agents within the territory. Responds to email and phone inquiries and requests from internal and external parties and effectively explains plan details and/or processing requirements.

Responds to internal and external requests for action or information. Assesses the request for completeness and adds account information as warranted before resolving or routing to the appropriate team. Documents all activities in systems. Produces and delivers standard and custom reports as needed. Completes account cancellations as requested.

Provides general administrative support, which may include, but is not limited to, participating in system upgrades, process improvement projects, and/or quality audits, and assisting with onboarding new associates on the team. May provide direction to other teams.

What it Takes

Associate degree or equivalent work experience.

Minimum 2 years of related work experience.

Working knowledge of PC software applications.

Exceptional communication and organizational skills.

A specific focus on accuracy and attention to detail preferred.

Ability to multi-task and work independently in a fast-paced environment desired.

Knowledge of Sentry systems and processing.
