Director, Horizontal Strategy, Operational Effectiveness and Innovation
Enterprise Compliance and Ethics (C&E), part of the Enterprise Risk Organization, supports our Compliance and Ethics agenda across Capital One. The Compliance and Ethics Command Center, reporting to the C&E Chief of Staff, has three distinct functions: 1) Associate Experience (AX), 2) the Project Management Office and 3) Horizontal Strategy, Operational Effectiveness and Innovation. The C&E Command Center is seeking a Director, Horizontal Strategy, Operational Effectiveness and Innovation, to lead and support our horizontal operational and process effectiveness, enablement and innovation agenda.
This critical role will oversee the design, optimization, and strategic alignment of cross‑functional processes. The Director ensures operational excellence, drives efficiency, and translates transformational strategy into scalable procedures. This role requires strong expertise in strategic planning, process design, project management, change management, and cross‑business collaboration to tackle broad organizational challenges.
You will collaborate cross‑functionally to define and execute the vision and key focus areas for strategy, enablement, and innovation (including AI) within the Compliance & Ethics organization. You will do so in a collaborative environment that fosters continuous learning, encourages growth, and values transformation, doing the right thing and excellence.
In this role you will wear many hats and make an incredible impact on the broader C&E organization.
Responsibilities
Drive and lead process improvement initiatives across C&E.
Support the C&E Innovation Center of Excellence and AI agenda.
Support top‑of‑house annual planning and ensure progress on related key priorities.
Proactively identify opportunities and lead critical, cross‑functional transformation projects, defining scope, stakeholders, and resources for timely delivery.
Build and leverage strong relationships across teams and partners including Finance, HR, Product, Governance, and Tech.
Serve as a key thought partner for process improvement and innovation, optimizing operating rhythms, enablement, and engagement.

Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree or military experience.
At least 5 years of experience in strategy development.
At least 5 years of experience managing senior stakeholders across business functions.
At least 3 years of people management experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree.
7+ years of experience working with risk leaders.
7+ years of experience managing senior stakeholders across business functions.
7+ years of experience in strategy development.

Salary range: McLean, VA: $206,000 - $235,100. Richmond, VA: $187,300 - $213,700. Candidates hired in other locations will be subject to the corresponding location’s pay range. This role is also eligible to earn performance‑based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long‑term incentives (LTI).
