Director, Horizontal Strategy, Operational Effectiveness and Innovation

Enterprise Compliance and Ethics (C&E), part of the Enterprise Risk Organization, supports our Compliance and Ethics agenda across Capital One. The Compliance and Ethics Command Center, reporting to the C&E Chief of Staff, has three distinct functions: 1) Associate Experience (AX), 2) the Project Management Office, and 3) Horizontal Strategy, Operational Effectiveness and Innovation. The C&E Command Center is seeking a Director to lead and support our horizontal operational and process effectiveness, enablement and innovation agenda. This critical role will oversee the design, optimization, and strategic alignment of cross‑functional processes. The Director ensures operational excellence, drives efficiency, and translates transformational strategy into scalable procedures. This role requires strong expertise in strategic planning, process design, project management, change management, and cross‑business collaboration to tackle broad organizational challenges. In this role you will collaborate cross‑functionally to define and execute the vision and key focus areas for strategy, enablement, and innovation (including AI) within the Compliance & Ethics organization, fostering continuous learning, growth, and transformation. Responsibilities

Drive and lead process improvement initiatives across C&E Support the C&E Innovation Center of Excellence and AI agenda Support top‑of‑house annual planning and ensure progress on related key priorities Proactively identify opportunities and lead critical, cross‑functional transformation projects, defining scope, stakeholders, and resources for timely delivery Build and leverage strong relationships across teams and partners including Finance, HR, Product, Governance and Tech Serve as a key thought partner for process improvement and innovation, optimizing operating rhythms, enablement, and engagement Core Competencies

Process Management: Design, implement, and optimize repeatable workflows for efficiency, quality, and compliance Project Leadership: Guide and motivate cross‑functional teams to successfully deliver complex projects Influencing Others: Persuade stakeholders and drive alignment across organizational levels without formal authority Complex Problem Solving: Analyze multi‑faceted business challenges, identify root causes, and develop innovative, sustainable solutions AI/Tech Acumen: Understand and leverage AI, machine learning, and technology trends, applying them strategically to business goals Strategic Thinker: Visionary approach to anticipating internal dynamics and macro trends, translating them into actionable, long‑term plans Executive Communicator: Concisely and clearly present complex ideas, insights, and recommendations to senior leadership and diverse audiences Drives Results: Proven history of taking ownership, overcoming obstacles, and consistently achieving measurable business outcomes and KPIs Professional Growth

Go deep into the organization to understand the Compliance & Ethics program Be a key strategic partner across C&E Partner with peers across ERO and the business Have a direct influence on the innovation agenda, including AI, of the organization Lead key horizontal initiatives Have a direct impact on enablement across the team Travel as needed to other U.S. based company locations up to 25% of the time Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree or military experience At least 5 years of experience in strategy development At least 5 years of experience managing senior stakeholders across business functions At least 3 years of people management experience Preferred Qualifications
