Job Title
Sr Total Rewards Specialist
Location
Hybrid; Vienna, VA
Key Responsibilities
Administer and optimize the organization’s benefit, compensation, and HR systems.
Work closely with HR, Payroll, and external vendors to ensure programs remain competitive, compliant, and supported by data.
Primary contact for employee benefit questions; assist with issue resolution and escalations.
Coordinate annual open enrollment, vendor coordination, system configuration, and employee communications.
Maintain accurate benefit data in HRIS, support audits, reconciliations, and ensure data flow with payroll and finance.
Manage leave administration, benefits payments and repayments.
Assist in compensation analysis, market pricing, benchmarking, internal equity reviews, merit increases, promotions, salary adjustments, and new award bonus processes.
Generate reports and data summaries to support compensation decisions, leadership reviews, and total rewards trends.
Support testing and implementation of system updates, enhancements and new total rewards tools.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, etc.) and manage related documentation and filings.
Support new employee orientation, manager orientation, executive orientation.
Handle unemployment claims processing and attend unemployment hearings as needed.
Education & Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
Experience & Skills
5+ years in benefits and compensation administration.
Experience supporting employee benefits and compensation programs.
Proficiency with HRIS and benefits administration systems (UKG Ready preferred, Workday, ADP).
In-depth knowledge of benefits regulations (ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA).
Experience managing open enrollment planning and execution.
Strong analytical and data management skills with high attention to detail.
Advanced Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP).
Ability to manage confidential information discreetly.
Excellent organizational and multi‑priority management skills.
Clear, professional written and verbal communication.
Strong business acumen and ability to build trust across all organizational levels.
Creative and strategic thinker with problem‑solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with compensation benchmarking tools and salary surveys.
HR or Total Rewards certifications (PHR, SHRM‑CP, CCP).
Experience supporting a growing or multi‑state workforce.
Experience managing benefits harmonization during mergers/acquisitions.
Experience transitioning an organization from fully insured to self‑insured, including vendor selection and fiduciary process establishment.
Salary & Benefits
Salary range: $80,000 - $100,000 (subject to experience, skills, certifications, etc.).
PTO including paid parental, military, and bereavement leave.
Eleven (11) paid Federal holidays, five of which are floating holidays.
Health insurance (HDHP, 100% employer prepaid).
Dental insurance.
Life Insurance, STD/LTD term disability coverage with employer paid premiums.
