Primary Care Sales Consultant – San Francisco & San Jose East, CA
Primary Care Sales Consultant (SC) is accountable for implementing sales strategies for an approved Cardiorenal product and for driving launch activities related to an anticipated menopause product.
Responsibilities include driving demand, providing clinical education, and coordinating a strategic business plan for Primary Care Physicians in community settings.
Coverage Territories
San Francisco territory: San Francisco, South San Francisco, Pacifica, Half Moon Bay, San Bruno, San Mateo, Redwood City, Palo Alto, Stanford, and Mountain View, CA.
San Jose East territory: San Jose, Sunnyvale, Milpitas, Saratoga, Los Gatos, Watsonville, Salinas, Soledad, San Juan Bautista, and Morgan Hill, CA.
Travel up to 50% within the territory.
The position is residence‑based and requires domicile within the territory.
Tasks & Responsibilities
Build and develop professional relationships with primary care and pharmacy staff within assigned customers.
Drive appropriate utilization of approved cardiovascular and menopause products; collaborate closely with the Customer Squad to generate pull‑through within local payers and community HCPs.
Leverage expertise and knowledge of the diabetes and menopause marketplace, competitors, industry trends, and cross‑functional plans to anticipate and manage business opportunities and challenges.
Provide relevant, thoughtful input to other commercial colleagues (sales leadership, regional account managers) regarding strategic and tactical planning at the territory, area, and region levels.
Develop and implement effective customer‑specific business plans; communicate insights to internal stakeholders.
Prioritize time and effort to ensure optimal coverage of physician specialists based on opportunity and potential.
Understand fully the assigned customers’ product and business needs and work to meet those needs while adhering to Bayer company ethics and compliance standards.
Anticipate potential barriers to achieving goals and propose responsible solutions for success.
Handle customer objections effectively and exceed expectations with the value you bring to physicians; occasionally serve as a training resource within the region.
Leverage emerging technologies to enhance performance and continually improve proficiency.
Understand and comply with pharmaceutical industry guidelines and regulations; apply a high ethical standard in day‑to‑day work.
Who You Are Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or 10 years of relevant sales experience in competitive landscapes (in lieu of a degree).
Proven track record of consistent high performance in a sales role or other relevant experience.
Proven track record in developing long‑standing relationships with customers.
Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
Demonstrated leadership promoting ethical behavior and compliance with company policies.
Ability to comply with customer credentialing and safety requirements (e.g., up‑to‑date vaccinations, trainings).
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree is a plus.
5+ years of experience in pharmaceutical sales.
In‑depth knowledge of cardiovascular, diabetes, and/or menopause disease states.
Product launch experience.
Strong analytical and computer capabilities.
Virtual sales experience.
Strong local relationships with HCPs and understanding of the local market.
Salary & Benefits Employees can expect a salary between $120,960 and $181,440.
Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if applicable).
