
Stewardship Specialist, Planned Giving

Earthjustice is seeking a Stewardship Specialist for Planned Giving, focusing on donor engagement strategies for the Evergreen Council (TEC). The role involves designing stewardship programs, coordinating with fundraisers, and ensuring fulfillment of planned gift commitments. The position can be based in Seattle, San Francisco, Washington, D.C., or can be remote from anywhere in the U.S.
Responsibilities
Design and carry out a comprehensive stewardship and donor relations program for TEC members, supporting planned giving team’s strategic goals and enhancing the existing program.
Plan and execute specific TEC stewardship tactics, including annual signature events, virtual town halls, and regional luncheons in partnership with the Engagement team.
Create bespoke stewardship plans for top TEC donors in partnership with Planned Gift Officers.
Provide best‑in‑class customer service to TEC donors before, during, and after events and activities.
Act as a strategic partner to gift officers across Development teams to support, enhance, and coordinate stewardship for TEC members.
Oversee protocols to record, monitor, and track TEC activities.
Collaborate with Planned Giving Marketing Specialist on TEC branding, broader communications strategy, and stewardship‑driven marketing outreach.
Coordinate on stewardship recommendations presented by the team’s external marketing vendor.
Stewardship Coordination and Continued Learning
Promote and support Earthjustice’s donor stewardship philosophy across all donor audiences.
Develop stewardship metrics to track inputs and outcomes; evaluate stewardship activities to ensure they achieve desired results.
Collect and share feedback with stakeholders to refine stewardship offerings and equitable engagement.
Maintain job knowledge through educational opportunities, professional publications, and personal networks.
Collaborate with Associate Director of Stewardship and Sr. Director of Planned Giving for sustainable planning of meetings and professional development.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
Minimum of 4 years’ experience in donor relations with planned giving stewardship responsibilities.
Experience using a fundraising database required.
Experience with campaign stewardship preferred.
Basic graphic design experience a plus.
Demonstrated understanding of planned giving vehicles and ongoing learning in that area.
Self‑starter able to coordinate multifaceted projects, timelines, and priorities independently and collaboratively.
Experience managing multiple projects and events within a set budget.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Enthusiastic about communicating with donors, prospects, board members, and volunteers.
Authentic enthusiasm for Earthjustice’s vision and mission.
Awareness and sensitivity to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Creates inclusive work culture that celebrates differences.
Must travel for events, meetings, retreats, and may work evenings and weekends.
Valid U.S. Driver’s License required.

San Francisco, CA and New York, NY: $101,300 - $112,500
Washington, D.C., Chicago, IL, Seattle, WA, and Los Angeles, CA: $96,200 - $106,900
Denver, CO and Philadelphia, PA: $91,200 - $101,300
Miami, FL, Bozeman, MT, and New Orleans, LA: $86,100 - $95,700
Remote: $86,100 - $112,500 (varying by location)
