We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Lighting Designer to join our team in New York, NY. This is a part‑time position (with remote flexibility) ideal for an emerging professional looking to grow their technical and creative skills in architectural and entertainment lighting design.
The Role As a Junior Lighting Designer, you will support the design team through all phases of project development, from initial concept to final documentation. You will help translate design intent into technical reality while ensuring high standards of precision and visual quality.

Key Responsibilities
Assist in the preparation of lighting layouts, schedules, and technical specifications.
Perform lighting calculations and photometrics using industry-standard software (AGI32, ElumTools, or similar).
Develop 2D CAD drawings and 3D models/renderings to communicate design concepts.
Organize and maintain the internal lighting library and sample room.
Collaborate with senior designers on project research and fixture selection.
Qualifications
Education: Degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Lighting Design, or a related field.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD and Rhino/Revit is highly preferred. Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign) and Vectorworks is a plus.
Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to work effectively in a collaborative studio environment.
Mindset: A keen eye for detail, a passion for the intersection of light and space, and a proactive approach to problem‑solving.
Compensation & Benefits
Pay: $26.00 – $32.00 per hour (commensurate with experience).
Schedule: Part-time with flexible remote work options.
