We are seeking an experienced

Capture Director

to lead in‑game capture for cinematic trailers and marketing assets. This is a hands‑on, highly collaborative role that requires a strong blend of creative vision and technical expertise. In this role, you will direct capture sessions, operate marketing cameras, and shape action choreography to create compelling, cinematic footage. You will collaborate closely with capture assistants, capture artists, and engine technicians—guiding teams to deliver high‑quality gameplay that brings the creative vision to life. The ideal candidate is both a creative storyteller and a technical expert, capable of producing top‑tier cinematic and gameplay footage directly from game builds and Sequencer. This is a

fully in‑person role based in our Redwood City, CA studio . Remote or hybrid arrangements are not available. Responsibilities

Direct and execute in‑game capture for trailers, cinematics, gameplay features, and marketing content. Translate scripts, storyboards, and creative briefs into actionable shot lists and capture plans. Lead and direct small to large teams of capture assistants during capture sessions. Deliver cinematic footage with high level marketing camera operation and directing compelling action choreography. Collaborate closely with creative directors, producers, editors, animators, GFX artists, and audio teams to deliver on the intended creative vision. Operate virtual camera systems, marketing cameras, sequencers, and engine‑specific capture tools (Unreal Engine, Unity, proprietary engines). Manage capture sessions efficiently, maintaining quality under tight deadlines. Help oversee, guide and give feedback on several projects at a time while not being directly involved. Help establish and improve capture workflows, standards, and best practices at Layer. Start to finish capture ownership on projects. Qualifications

4+ years of experience in cinematic game capture, cinematics, trailers, or in‑engine filmmaking. Extremely detail oriented individual with a high standard for quality. Strong cinematic sensibility with a proven ability to frame compelling shots and direct dynamic action. High level experience capturing footage in game using a marketing camera. Experience directing capture sessions and leading capture teams. Excellent communication and leadership skills. Deep understanding of gameplay systems and how to manipulate them for cinematic results. Have a capture reel and are able to speak to each project and your direct role in each project. Nice to Have

Background in editing or post‑production workflows Experience working on AAA game marketing campaigns or trailers. Game Engine know‑how, using sequencer or other similar tools (Unreal, Unity, proprietary) 2+ years experience as a capture director. Please Include:
