Job Summary Provides direct patient care and physical therapy services to a caseload of residents in a non‑CMS skilled care facility. Plans, coordinates, directs, and evaluates the Physical Therapy department, supervises a Certified Physical Therapy Assistant, students, and volunteers, and participates in key organizational committees.
Responsibilities
Review requests for physical therapy services, establish priorities, and coordinate programs with other departments.
Plan, coordinate, and supervise clinical training of physical therapy students; develop and coordinate clinical research programs, study projects, and audit activities.
Develop and establish departmental policies and procedures, and conduct annual reviews with recommendations for modifications.
Participate in personal and departmental professional growth through continuing education, in‑service activities, community involvement, and independent study.
Supervise and evaluate the Physical Therapist Assistant, restorative technician, students, and volunteers.
Develop and implement individualized physical therapy programs based on residents' needs and skill levels, and document progress and treatment.
Train staff in new or revised treatment methods and procedures.
Participate in team meetings and serve as the department representative on committees.
Inventory and requisition supplies and equipment necessary for patient care; monitor and maintain equipment in good working order.
Maintain departmental records, including attendance, patient progress, audit activities, procurement, and monthly and annual reports.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Graduate of an American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) accredited Physical Therapy School with a Master's degree in Physical Therapy.
Licensed by the State of Georgia as a Physical Therapist.
Required Experience
At least two years of experience in all facets of Physical Therapy.
Supervisory experience or training in managing staff.
Preferred Qualifications
Doctorate in Physical Therapy (preferred).
Geriatric Physical Therapy clinical certification.
Experience with the Point Click Care electronic medical record system.
Experience in long‑term care.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Comprehensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology, disease processes, and functional mobility training.
Ability to plan and provide skilled intervention based on assessed deficits.
Management skills to supervise PT, PTA, restorative technicians, students, and volunteers.
Represent the Physical Therapy Department in facility and community meetings.
Operate equipment and perform technical procedures, including simple mechanical adjustments and repairs.
Communicate effectively and positively with all staff, prioritize workload, and accomplish departmental objectives.
Certifications / License
Licensed by the State of Georgia as a Physical Therapist.
Shift / Salary / Benefits
Shift: Days, Monday‑Friday (outside normal business hours may be required).
Pay Band: B15; salary commensurate with qualifications within the established range.
Recruitment Period: Until Filled.
