Director of IT Infrastructure Operations
Onsite 5 days a week Midtown Manhattan
Overview Director of IT Infrastructure Operations for our direct client to lead the day-to-day management of the enterprise technology infrastructure. This role is responsible for ensuring high availability, performance, and security across all systems while driving operational excellence, standardization, and continuous improvement.
The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in complex infrastructure environments, strong leadership capabilities, and a hands‑on approach to solving technical and operational challenges.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and oversee daily operations of enterprise IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, storage, security, virtualization, and database environments
Ensure system reliability, performance, and availability across mission‑critical platforms
Drive incident response, root cause analysis, and resolution of infrastructure issues
Establish and maintain infrastructure standards across cloud, networking, storage, security, and identity management
Partner with internal stakeholders to deliver a secure, scalable, and cost‑effective technology environment
Manage relationships with third‑party vendors and service providers, ensuring accountability and service quality
Implement and optimize ITSM/ITOM processes aligned with industry best practices (ITIL)
Own infrastructure monitoring strategy, including tool selection, implementation, and performance optimization
Leverage monitoring data and analytics to identify trends and drive continuous improvement
Develop KPIs and reporting to measure operational performance and service delivery
Support and execute IT strategic initiatives and new technology deployments
Lead crisis management efforts, including outage response and disaster recovery coordination
Build, mentor, and manage a high‑performing IT Operations team, fostering a culture of accountability and innovation
Qualifications
5+ years of experience leading IT Operations or Infrastructure teams in complex environments
Strong knowledge of enterprise infrastructure, including cloud platforms (Azure preferred), networking, storage, and security
Experience with ITSM frameworks (ITIL) and ITOM tools
Hands‑on experience with monitoring and observability tools (e.g., Splunk, Grafana, ELK, Datadog, LogicMonitor)
Proven ability to manage incidents, drive root cause analysis, and improve system reliability
Experience working with vendors and managed service providers
Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
Ability to operate effectively in high‑pressure situations and make decisions during critical incidents
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
Experience in financial services or other highly regulated environments
Knowledge of cloud security best practices and compliance frameworks
