Job Duties The Director of Technology Infrastructure and Operations oversees the operation of the Information Technology department and ensures it aligns with the business objectives of Virginia State University.
The Director provides Data Center and Infrastructure Leadership for stable and efficient technology services, resources, and infrastructure to support university academic and research operations.
Direct the operational and strategic planning of the Datacenter and Network Infrastructure services.
Manage the security aspects of the Datacenter and Network Infrastructure.
Work with project management to develop work plans, resource planning, budgeting, execution, and management of ongoing and future projects.
Manage IT outsourcing contracts and staffing, including recruitment, supervision, scheduling, development, evaluation, and disciplinary actions.
Minimum Qualifications
Proven experience in IT infrastructure, strategic planning and development, project management, and policy development.
Good understanding and technical knowledge of current network and PC operating systems, hardware, protocols, and standards.
Experience with systems design and development from business requirements analysis through to day-to-day management.
Knowledge of business theory, business processes, management, budgeting, and business office operations.
Demonstrated ability to apply IT in solving business problems.
Advanced knowledge of contract negotiation and vendor management.
In-depth knowledge of applicable laws and regulations as they relate to IT.
Strong understanding of human resource management principles, practices, and procedures.
Demonstrated experience working with a range of technical staff to develop joint solutions.
Highly self‑motivated, self‑directed, and attentive to detail.
Strong leadership, coaching and mentoring skills.
Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication and presentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Earned bachelor's degree in computer science or related field or equivalent experience.
10 years relevant technology, service delivery management experience.
