Director, Health Equity and Belonging
Responsibilities
Develop and lead a system-wide strategic framework with goals, objectives, milestones, metrics and accountability for the organization’s focus on health equity and workforce inclusion & belonging. Embed this work into the system’s strategic plan and organizational priorities, and ensure alignment across sites, service lines and community partners.
Provide oversight of health equity and belonging management structures (e.g., population health steering committee, JEDI Council). Lead and support employee resource groups (ERGs) and affinity networks including charter creation, operational plans, budgets, reporting and strategic linkages to business objectives and priorities.
Partner with Talent Acquisition/HR to design recruitment, retention, promotion and succession strategies to build a workforce and leadership pipeline that is inclusive and representative of the communities we serve.
Analyze workforce demographic, engagement and turnover data, identify disparities or gaps, and partner with business units to close gaps.
Develop, implement and evaluate system-wide training (e.g., cultural competence, unconscious bias, inclusive leadership, health literacy, etc.) for leaders, providers, clinical and non-clinical staff.
Partner with operational and clinical leaders to embed inclusive practices and assess cultural climate.
Partner with population health, clinical leadership, quality & safety, patient experience and community health teams to ensure culturally and linguistically competent care, address social drivers of health (SDOH), reduce health disparities and advance health equity.
Benchmark best practices in health equity and workforce belonging, analyze internal and external data, conduct gap analyses and refine strategy accordingly.
Ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks, accreditations/certifications related to health equity and an inclusive workplace.
Lead and oversee external engagements, awards, and partnerships related to health equity and an inclusive work culture and environment.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required, master’s in public health, healthcare administration, organizational development, human resources or related field preferred.
7+ years of progressive leadership experience in health equity and workforce inclusion/belonging.
Demonstrated success leading change management and culture transformation initiatives.
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of health equity, SDOH, inclusive care practices, and workforce diversity, preferably in a healthcare setting.
Strategic thinker with ability to translate strategy into actionable programs and measurable outcomes.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including facilitation, presentation and training delivery skills.
Proven ability to build and sustain ERGs and link them to business outcomes (e.g., retention, talent development).
Required License/Certification
Relevant certifications in health equity and workforce inclusion/belonging preferred.
