POSITION SUMMARY The Director of Performance Improvement provides strategic and operational leadership to advance Health First’s performance, quality, and efficiency across the Integrated Delivery Network (IDN). The Director partners with executive, clinical, and operational leaders to design and sustain improvement initiatives that enhance patient outcomes, operational reliability, and organizational effectiveness. The Director champions a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous learning through the application of evidence‑based improvement methodologies.

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Leads the development and execution of a systemwide performance and process improvement strategy aligned with organizational priorities.

Oversees the application of Lean, Six Sigma, and other performance improvement frameworks to optimize safety, quality, and efficiency.

Partners with senior leaders and multidisciplinary teams to identify and address key operational and clinical performance opportunities.

Directs large‑scale transformation projects that improve outcomes, reduce variation, and enhance value, improve cost efficiency, reduce waste and maximize resource utilization across the care continuum.

Monitors and analyzes key performance indicators (KPIs), both operational and financial, ensuring timely communication of progress and impact to executive leadership.

Fosters a culture of continuous improvement through coaching, mentorship, and engagement at all levels of the organization.

Ensures integration of process improvement efforts with patient safety, regulatory compliance, and accreditation requirements.

Develops and delivers training programs that build organizational capability in process improvement and change management.

Collaborates with operational and finance leaders to ensure alignment of improvement projects with organizational strategic and financial objectives.

LEADERSHIP ACCOUNTABILITIES

Define and communicate a clear, compelling vision for the team that effectively ties into the mission and vision of Health First and inspire the team to achieve that vision.

Provide leadership, motivation, coaching, feedback and support to foster and strengthen growth and development of an effective, high‑performing team.

Lead change through effective communication, explaining the connection and value to the organization, creating stronger buy‑in and urgency, while understanding impact to the team to obtain commitment.

Demonstrate openness to hearing diverse ideas and thoughts; create a sense of inclusivity; and encourage collaboration across teams to help break down silos to meet the team’s and organization’s goals.

Recruit, select, grow, and retain highly engaged, high performing diverse and inclusive associates.

Display strong strategic and financial acumen in areas of responsibility in alignment with the organization’s strategic objectives.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business or Healthcare Administration, Organizational Leadership, Industrial Engineering, or a relevant field.

Work Experience: Ten (10) years’ progressively responsible experience in performance improvement, operations, or process excellence within a healthcare or complex system environment with success leading enterprise‑level improvement processes, initiatives and influencing system-wide change.

Licensure: None

Certification: LEAN Six Sigma Black Belt prior to start date and maintained.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

Deep understanding of process improvement, systems thinking, and change management.

Ability to travel around various locations within Brevard County, Florida.

Exceptional ability to lead through influence, build consensus, and engage diverse stakeholders.

Proficiency in data analysis and performance measurement tools.

Skilled communicator with the ability to convey complex information clearly to all levels of the organization.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and electronic health record systems.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Certification: Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) or equivalent certification.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Majority of time involves sitting or standing; occasional walking, bending, and stooping.

Long periods of computer time or at workstation.

Light work that may include lifting or moving objects up to 20 pounds with or without assistance.

May be exposed to inside environments with varied temperatures, air quality, lighting and/or low to moderate noise.

Communicating with others to exchange information.

Visual acuity and hand‑eye coordination to perform tasks.

Workspace may vary from open to confined.

May require travel to various facilities within and beyond county perimeter; may require use of personal vehicle.
