Associate Radio Frequency Engineer
GAS Global, Leawood, KS, United States
The Associate RF Engineer functions as a technical specialist supporting the design, analysis, and optimization of microwave (MW) and wireless communication systems. This role applies engineering fundamentals and early-career experience to deliver RF design solutions, perform system analysis, and support project execution. The position involves preparing engineering deliverables, conducting calculations, performing field validations, and collaborating with cross-functional teams while continuing to develop expertise in RF and wireless technologies.
Key Responsibilities
Design and optimize microwave (MW) and wireless communication systems, including LTE/5G, Narrowband, and LMR networks. Perform
link budget calculations ,
path feasibility studies , and
reliability analysis
for MW transport systems. Conduct
line-of-sight (LOS) surveys
and path validations to ensure system performance and deployment accuracy. Develop
path profiles , coverage models, and interference analyses using industry-standard tools. Utilize
Pathloss 6
and
Infovista Planet
for MW link design, RF modeling, and network optimization. Prepare engineering deliverables such as RF design packages, reports, calculations, and technical documentation. Apply engineering standards, codes, design guidelines, and company policies to all assigned tasks. Analyze system performance and recommend improvements to enhance capacity, efficiency, and minimize interference. Support integration and configuration of radio platforms (e.g., Nokia, Aviat). Conduct research and provide recommendations for equipment selection and system design improvements. Collect, manage, and analyze RF and network performance data. Ensure work aligns with project budgets, schedules, and quality requirements. Identify and resolve engineering challenges related to RF design and system performance.
