
Special Services Director

Savannah R3 is seeking a collaborative, strategic, and student-centered leader to serve as Director of Special Services. This position provides district-wide leadership for special education and related services to ensure students with disabilities receive high-quality, compliant, and inclusive programming. This is a 12 month position, with a start date of July 1, 2026.
Position Overview The Director of Special Services oversees all aspects of special education, including compliance, instructional leadership, staffing, budgeting, and program development. The Director works closely with building principals and district leadership to ensure effective service delivery and strong outcomes for students.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure full compliance with IDEA, Section 504, ADA, and Missouri DESE regulations
Oversee IEP development, evaluation timelines, and service implementation
Lead inclusive practices and support Least Restrictive Environment (LRE) placement
Supervise and evaluate special education staff
Manage IDEA Part B funds and special education budget
Coordinate Early Childhood Special Education and related services
Oversee Medicaid reimbursement and required state reporting
Monitor student achievement, behavioral data, and program effectiveness
Facilitate collaborative partnerships with families and community agencies
Support principals in complex student cases and legal processes
Lead district response to compliance monitoring, complaints, or due process
Qualifications
Missouri certification as Director of Special Education (or eligible)
Master's degree required
Minimum five years of successful special education experience
Demonstrated leadership capacity
